Taizhou (台州) is a prefecture-level city in eastern Zhejiang province, China. Taizhou City is one of Jiangsu thirteen prefecture-level cities which administers two old municipal districts and 4 county-level cities, Jingjiang, Jiangyan, Taixing, and Xinghua.

It’s a summertime weekend holiday resort for urbanites from Shanghai trying to escape the heat, who fly into Zhou Shan airport on the neighboring island of Zhujiajian and take boats from there. Summer periods, as well as weekends for most of the year, should be avoided because hotel prices are extortionate then, as are prices in restaurants.

Transportation options:
Putuoshan to Shanghai: From the Luchaogang Harbour there is a fast boat to Shanghai Shiliepu Harbour near the Bund, the main passenger harbour of Shanghai. It costs RMB156 per person for a soft seat on the boat(bus fare included) and the trip takes three and a half hours.
